Yoga Day

On June 21, Don Bosco High School, Borivli celebrated International Yoga Day with a spirited event that brought together students and staff to practice and appreciate the benefits of yoga. The event was conducted by our physical education instructor, Mrs. Alexinha Joseph.

The celebration started at 8:40 AM in the school auditorium, with approximately 480 students from grade 5 to 6 and 550 scouters and guides from grade 8 to 10 participating. Mrs. Joseph began with an insightful talk on the history and significance of International Yoga Day, emphasizing the holistic benefits of yoga for both physical health and mental well-being.

Following the introduction, Mrs. Joseph led the students through a series of yoga asanas, including:

Tadasana (Mountain Pose)

Vrikshasana (Tree Pose)

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)

Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend)

Savasana (Corpse Pose)

Utkatasana (Chair Pose)

Each asana was demonstrated with detailed instructions, ensuring that all students could follow along effectively. The session concluded with a short meditation and relaxation period, allowing the participants to experience the calming effects of yoga.

The event was a resounding success, with students expressing their enjoyment and the positive impact on their mood and energy levels. Mrs. Joseph expertise and enthusiasm played a crucial role in making the session engaging and beneficial for everyone involved. The school looks forward to organizing similar events in the future to promote wellness and healthy living.
