Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Girl Child Day

Our Lady’s birthday has been described as “the hope for the entire world and the dawn of salvation”. That is why the Liturgy of the day says: “Let us celebrate with joy the birth of the Virgin Mary, of who was born the Son of Justice. Her birth constitutes the hope and the light of salvation for the whole world. Every year the feast of the Nativity of Mary is celebrated on the 8th of September, a day which is also dedicated to the Girl Child.
With great joy in our hearts, we celebrated the Feast of the Birth of our Blessed Virgin Mary and Girl Child Day in our school on 8th September.
As we celebrate Mary’s birthday, we remember that, like her, every little girl is born with the potential to change the world for the better. On this special occasion, the teachers of each section had something different for their students.

All the Girls of the Sr.kg were dressed in colourful clothes and one Boy from each class recited a small prayer that emphasized the importance of a girl child and women in our society. A colouring activity was also organized for the children
of Sr.kg & Jr.kg children. All the colourful activity worksheets were displayed in the corridors. The Girls were honoured with a small token of love and appreciation.

The primary section had a prayer service through the intercom, also a power point presentation was shown to the sstudents on ‘The life of Mama Mary and the power point presentation showcased the history of Mount Mary Bandra. Children brought flowers to offer to statue of Our Mama Mary which is placed in our school corridor, as a sign of their love and devotion for our beloved Mother Mary
