The Inauguration of the Science and Nature Clubs at Don Bosco High School and Junior College took place on 2nd September 2024 with a vibrant ceremony held in the AV Hall at 12:30 pm. The event, which was attended by students, faculty members, and other dignitaries, marked the beginning of an exciting journey towards scientific exploration and environmental stewardship.
The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, a ritual symbolizing the quest for knowledge and the dispelling of ignorance. Fr. Principal had the honor of lighting the lamp, after which he addressed the audience. In his speech, he emphasized the critical role that extracurricular clubs play in the holistic development of students. He underscored the importance of cultivating a scientific temperament and encouraged students to maintain a spirit of curiosity and open-mindedness in all their endeavors.
A highlight of the event was the thought-provoking video presentation titled “Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future.” The video explored the pivotal role that science and technology play in addressing the pressing global challenges of today, such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation. This was followed by the introduction of the clubs’ planned activities for the academic year, which include a special focus on biodiversity. An informative video on ‘Biodiversity’ was screened, shedding light on the rich diversity of life on Earth and the urgent need to conserve it.
To formally launch the clubs, saplings were planted by Miss Charusheela, symbolizing the commitment of the Science and Nature Clubs to fostering environmental awareness and scientific inquiry among students. The sapling plantation marked the beginning of the clubs’ journey toward making a meaningful impact on both the school community and the environment.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Vilita. She expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful inauguration, particularly the students and teachers who had worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
The inauguration of the Science and Nature Clubs set a promising tone for the year ahead, inspiring students to engage actively in scientific pursuits and environmental conservation efforts.
