It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. Today, 76 years later, Don Bosco Borivli celebrated this day with a sense of pride and immense happiness.
Although it falls on the 15th of this month, the young boscoites celebrated this auspicious occasion for a week. The primary section of the school had little angels of Grades 1 & 2 performing the singing competition and grades 3 & 4 having a dance competition based on patriotic songs. The students and teachers put in a lot of effort and it truly showed in their performances.
The Savio Kindergarten – Pre-Primary Section celebrated special events to commemorate Independence Day with pomp and great joy beginning with the Patriotic Assembly, A Cultural Act – I LOVE MY INDIA presented by the students of Sr.kg. The children of Jr.kg coloured the tri-colour National Flag with great excitement and the colour of joy reflected on their faces. The students of Sr.kg had a Patriotic singing competition where all the children in unison resounded the Patriotic songs in honour of our country.
And finally dawned on the 15th! The day began with our chief guest, Mr Oorjawaha Avasare, the asst engineer of the roads with the BMC, hoisting the proud tricolour. What followed was a display of true patriotic fervour. A fire gripped the hearts and souls of the audience as the students of the primary, secondary and junior college displayed some heart-gripping performances. From speeches to poems, songs to dances, each proved better than the other.
Mr Avasare, the chief guest, through his speech, urged the students to give their best shot to whatever task they undertake. Being available at all times and being of help to people around will promote and foster humanity and care, was also the message that seemed to connect with the students.
Fr Flovi D’Souza, the principal of the school, thanked the chief guest for gracing the occasion and sharing his valuable thoughts with the young minds. On a concluding note, he further stated that as the future leaders of our country, one must remember that the power to shape a brighter tomorrow lies within each young mind and so they must continue to strive for progress and work together to build a prosperous and harmonious society.
Jai Hind!
