“Unite, Compete, Achieve: Where Passion Meets the Spirit of Sports!”
The Annual Sports Fest of Don Bosco High School, Borivli, held on the 28th and 29th of November, 2024, was a grand celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and teamwork. Over two eventful days, the school grounds came alive with the vibrancy and energy of athletes and performers, marking another milestone in the school’s rich tradition of fostering physical fitness and holistic growth.
The fest began with a solemn and impressive opening ceremony, showcasing the discipline and grandeur of the school. The Guard of Honour proudly led the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Manuel Murzello, along with the Principal, Rev. Fr. Flovi D’Souza, and other esteemed members of the management to the dais. Their presence added dignity to the occasion.
The synchronised March Past, performed by the school’s young cadets, was a spectacle of precision and coordination, drawing applause from the audience. The lighting of the ceremonial torch by the athletes symbolized the spirit of determination and ignited the flame of passion in the hearts of the athletes. The event was further enriched by mesmerizing cultural performances. The energetic Mallakhamb and Rope Mallakhamb demonstrated strength and agility, while the rhythmic Lezium, lively Aerobics, and the traditional
Karma Dance reflected a blend of tradition and fitness. Each performance captivated the audience and set an inspiring tone for the fest.
The fest offered a wide array of competitions, with enthusiastic participation from students across grades 5 to 10.
: From sprints and long-distance runs to shot put and high jump, the field events showcased remarkable athleticism.
Chess, carrom, and badminton provided a platform for strategy and skill, while table tennis and throwball added to the excitement. Football, hockey, basketball, and cricket brought out the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie, with nail-biting finishes in several matches.
Athletes competed fiercely, aiming for personal bests and glory.
Adding a creative flair to the event, the performing arts students delivered exceptional performances. The speech and drama group, drummers, and dancers left the audience awestruck with their talent and enthusiasm. Their contributions added a celebratory vibe to the sports fest, making it a true festival of talent and creativity.
The two-day extravaganza culminated in a grand closing ceremony. The much-anticipated prize distribution honored the efforts and achievements of the participants, with medals and trophies awarded to deserving winners. The lowering of the school flag and the ceremonial dousing of the torch marked the conclusion of the sports fest, symbolizing the end of a memorable chapter in the school’s history.
The Principal, Rev. Fr. Flovi D’Souza, in his closing address, commended the participants for their sportsmanship and thanked the organizers, staff, and students for their collective efforts in making the event a resounding success.
